Pablo, Diane, and Phil are members of the Mimbres Springs Fire Department, a small department located in southern New Mexico. They have fought local wildfires earlier this summer, but being called up to any large campaign fire like this Nevada fire, is like being called up to the Big Leagues!
Fighting fire is always a dangerous undertaking and the crew is aware that despite all of their training and physical conditioning, Mother Nature is immensely greater than they are, and she shows no mercy when it comes to wildfire.
Despite the risk, Pablo, Diane, and Phil know these fire assignments produce adrenaline-pumping adventure and provide fodder for some exceedingly tall tales.

This is one of those fun easy reads that you don't want to put down. It gives you a very indepth insight on the life of a wildfire crew and the perils they face fighting an unpredictable wildfire. You get to know the crew on the Triple Nickle as they are assigned to various wildfires and see the camaraderie that develops among the crew. During the times not fighting wildfires, the lighter side of the crews personalities comes out in the form of jokes and pranks pulled on each other, mainly by the crew boss, Pablo. They work extremely hard during their assignments and have fun during their off time. As I read this book, I remembered the 19 Hotshots that were killed in the Prescot wildfire a few years ago and realized how fighting a wildfire can be extremely dangerous. This book takes to the edge of that type of danger but also makes you laugh at the antics of the crew. I was sorry to have finished the book as I was wanting to know more about the crew and read about their other wildfire assignments. Then I remembered, this was only book one of the Brush Truck Chronicles. I am eagerly awaiting to read book 2, 3, .....!Product details

It was just a fun read
Nice quick easy read providing an interesting look into the life of a small wildfire crew. Recommend.
Loved this book, I couldn't set it down .
Very fun book
A fun read. A little hokey in parts, but overall, it is enjoyable. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. As the mother of a hotshot, I like to read anything I can to get a better understanding of what my son faces on the line.
A book that is fast paced & you can't put down. A real pleasure to read. You gain an in-depth appreciation of wild land fire fighters.
I loved this book and could not put it down. I worked with both these firefighters and they are as funny in real life as they are in the book. Some of the pranks reminded me of some of the stunts we pulled on people when I was in the military and laughed so hard I got tears in my eyes. Tells the story also of the hardship that our wild land firefighters endure to save our environment, our homes, ranches and other structures. This is a fast, fun, must read. Enjoy
